Upcoming Naples Armenian Community Events

The Armenian Church of Southwest Florida (ACSWFL) is pleased to welcome Rev. Fr. Arshen Aivazian to celebrate the Divine Liturgy (Badarak) on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 1:30 PM. The service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 3901 Davis Blvd., Naples, Florida. A luncheon will follow in Trinity Hall.

The ACSWFL is also pleased to report that the blessing of Emmie Elizabeth Esayian was performed by Fr. Hovnan Demerjian of St. Hagop’s Armenian Church in Pinellas Park, Florida during our last service on November 7, 2015.

The ACSWFL holds services in November, January, February, and March. Please mark your calendars for the following upcoming events:

  • Sunday, January 17, 2016 – Badarak with Rev. Fr. Arshen Aivazian, lunch to follow;
  • Thursday, February 11, 2016 – Men’s Basterma Breakfast;
  • Sunday, February 21, 2016 – Badarak with Rev. Fr. Tateos Abdalian followed by the 15th Anniversary Banquet at Vanderbilt Country Club in Naples, FL;
  • Monday, March 7, 2016 – Bake sale with a light lunch and social hour;
  • Sunday, March 13, 2016 – Badarak with Rev. Fr. Garabed Kochakian, lenten luncheon to follow.

Iranian-Armenian Concert at FIU

Iranian-Armenian Night 6 Jan. 2016

Florida Armenians invites you to a special Iranian-Armenian musical performance this Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 7:30 PM at Florida International University (FIU), Biscayne Bay Campus, Wolfe University Center, 3000 NE 151st St, Miami, Florida 33181.

The concert is a collaboration between Harmonic Motion and Caravan Ensemble, and will feature the following artists:

  • Joe Zeytoonian: Oud & Vocals
  • Reza Filsoofi: Setar & Vocals
  • Myriam Eli: Percussion

Caravan Ensemble

This performance is a selection of familiar tunes which have roots in both Persian and Armenian cultures, along with some traditional melodies.

Tickets are $15 per person, and $10 for students with valid ID.

BIOGRAPHY

Described by the legendary Maxim Vengerov as owner of the “violinistic hands so close to perfection” and “an extremely talented and promising musician,” Nune Melikian is one of the most noted violinists of her generation.

A winner of AGBU Performing Arts Fellowship 2013-2014, Nune Melikian is a top prize of various international competitions including the Oistrakh International Competition in Moscow; the Andrea Postacchini International Competition; LISMA Foundation International competition, University of Montreal Concerto Competition.

She has performed in venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall, Merkin City Hall and the Bolshoy Hall. She enrolled in the Moscow Conservatory as one of the top five contenders.

In 2009  she became the youngest student accepted to the Masters’ at the University of Montreal. She recently obtained her Artist Diploma with Mr. Albert Markov, professor of the Manhattan School of Music, in New York.September 2015 marked Nuné Melikian’s obtaining of the 1750 Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi Violin from the Canada Council Musical Instrument Bank.
