In Memoriam: Satenik (Seta) H. Garabedian

BOCA RATON, FL — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Satenik H. Garabedian (May 10, 1934 – June 8, 2021) at 87 years old.

She was the widow of Edward Garabedian, who died in 2012. She leaves her son Hachik Garabedian, her future daughter-in-law, Jean Mosessian, her grandchildren, Isabela Garabedian, Olivia Garabedian and Hrant Garabedian and her brother, Nubar Khatchikian as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Her son Hrant predeceased her in 1984. Seta was a loving mom, grandmother, aunt, and friend who was extremely special to many. She loved her family unconditionally. She was a critical part of each of our lives.

Seta was born, May 10, 1934, in Ruse, Bulgaria to Hrant and Vartuhi Hachikian. She married Edward Garabedian in 1955 and they had 2 sons, Hachik and Hrant. In 1968, she immigrated with her husband Edward and two sons, to Queens, New York, where family and heritage were the mainstays. She worked as a seamstress at Oscar de la Renta and then ran the gift shop of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City. In 1983, her son, Hachik, opened the French Mediterranean fine dining establishment, Bistro Metro, in Forest Hills, New York. Seta played a major roll in creating specialty menus and fine baked goods. In 2003, Seta moved to Florida with her husband, and her son Hachik.

She adored each of her grandchildren who have countless wonderful memories of meals, vacations and most importantly time spent together. Her family, friends and church were her life.
