On January 28, Diocesan Primate Archbishop Khajag Barsamian visited St. Mary Armenian Church in Hollywood, FL, to preside over the 20th ordination anniversary of Rev. Fr. Vartan Joulfayan.
During the badarak the Primate ordained four young altar servers. Following his sermon, he presented Fr. Joulfayan with the Floral Pilon in honor of the pastor’s milestone. A large crowd gathered afterwards for a celebratory luncheon.
Bishop Nareg Berberian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Brazil, was also present and offered congratulatory remarks.
St. Mary Church of Hollywood, FL, marked its 18th anniversary on Sunday, December 11. Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, Legate and Ecumenical Director of the Eastern Diocese, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, with the Rev. Fr. Vartan Joulfayan, parish pastor, assisting.
During the celebratory luncheon following services, Archbishop Aykazian stressed the importance of parishioners’ involvement in the life of the church. More than 100 people took part in the event, which also included musical performances and other speakers. The luncheon was sponsored by Jack and Maria Esmerian and family; it was chaired by Women’s Guild member Carmen Masraff.
HOLLYWOOD, FL – Upon the invitation of Fr. Vartan Joulfayan, Pastor of St. Mary Armenian Church, the V. Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan, Director of Zohrab & Clara Information Center in New York, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the homily on Sunday, November 6th.
Rev. Fr. Vartan shared the Bible story with the children. Following the Liturgy, Khashlama luncheon was sponsored and served by the Kocharyan family. Assisting in the preparation of the luncheon were, Suren & Hasmik Hairapetyan.
After the luncheon, Fr. Findikyan made a power-point presentation and delivered a very enlightening and highly educational lecture. The topic of the lecture was: “The Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide: From Victims to Victors.”
All parishioners and children had a blessed day, enjoyed the luncheon and listened to the illuminating and very interesting lecture, which gave knowledge and understanding of the meaning of martyrdom and sanctification, holiness and ultimate sacrifice for the love of Jesus Christ to inherit the kingdom of God.
