In Memoriam: Satenik (Seta) H. Garabedian

BOCA RATON, FL — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Satenik H. Garabedian (May 10, 1934 – June 8, 2021) at 87 years old.
She was the widow of Edward Garabedian, who died in 2012. She leaves her son Hachik Garabedian, her future daughter-in-law, Jean Mosessian, her grandchildren, Isabela Garabedian, Olivia Garabedian and Hrant Garabedian and her brother, Nubar Khatchikian as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Her son Hrant predeceased her in 1984. Seta was a loving mom, grandmother, aunt, and friend who was extremely special to many. She loved her family unconditionally. She was a critical part of each of our lives.
Seta was born, May 10, 1934, in Ruse, Bulgaria to Hrant and Vartuhi Hachikian. She married Edward Garabedian in 1955 and they had 2 sons, Hachik and Hrant. In 1968, she immigrated with her husband Edward and two sons, to Queens, New York, where family and heritage were the mainstays. She worked as a seamstress at Oscar de la Renta and then ran the gift shop of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City. In 1983, her son, Hachik, opened the French Mediterranean fine dining establishment, Bistro Metro, in Forest Hills, New York. Seta played a major roll in creating specialty menus and fine baked goods. In 2003, Seta moved to Florida with her husband, and her son Hachik.
She adored each of her grandchildren who have countless wonderful memories of meals, vacations and most importantly time spent together. Her family, friends and church were her life.

Satenik will join her beloved departed husband, Edward and her deceased son, Hrant, in Cedar Grove Cemetery located in Flushing, New York.
Upon the Request of the Family, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. David Armenian Church, 2300 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, FL 33487. May God rest the soul of the departed and comfort the members of her family.
Miss Universe Armenia Monika Grigoryan Coming to South Florida

HOLLYWOOD, FL – With fans from across the world watching, the 69th Miss Universe Competition will take place on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. Among the contestants present will be 21 year old Monika Grigoryan, Miss Universe Armenia, who will be competing for the world title of Miss Universe.
Ms. Grigoryan departed Armenia and is already in the U.S. She landed in New York City over the weekend and is making her way down to South Florida.
From Vanadzor, Armenia, Grigoryan is currently a senior at the Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences majoring in linguistics and foreign languages. She works as a communications specialist within public relations at a logistics company and works as a translator for people all across the globe.
She also spends time working at a children’s modeling agency and teaches catwalk lessons to improve the confidence in the aspiring talent. Monika has also had the opportunity to star in 24 Armenian and Indian music videos over the years.
Volunteering plays an important role in Monika’s life. After her father died, she struggled psychologically and emotionally. She’s created a team of volunteers that help bring light to children struggling with disease and poverty to help them with the issues she faced as a kid. She is hopeful for a future without war and spent the year uniting those affected.
