St. Hagop Armenian Church to Launch ‘Cultural Series’ in 2019

 

PINELLAS PARK, FL – St. Hagop Armenian Church will launch it’s first ever ‘Cultural Series’ in 2019. Three performances are currently scheduled for January, February, and March. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased in advance online here. Below is a listing of announced events:

  • Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 1:30pm: Haig Yaghoobian, Pianist
  • Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 1:30pm: Bared Maronian, Film Producer
  • Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 1:30pm: Dr. Haig Mardirosian, Organist

New Priest at St. David Armenian Church

Gomidas ZohrabianToday, the Parish Council of St. David Armenian Church in Boca Raton, FL announced the assignment of Rev. Fr. Gomidas Zohrabian as the new priest of St. David, effective January 3, 2019.

“It is our prayer and fervent wish that he receives abundant blessings in his new pastorate and are confident he will perform God’s work admirably in serving the Armenian families in our community as well as our good friends of the northern states who join us regularly during the winter months,” stated Parish Council Chairman Homer Gregorian in a letter dated New Year’s Eve.

Fr. Gomidas was ordained February 23, 2003 and has been the pastor of St. George Armenian Church in Hartford, CT where he has served since then. Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1965, Fr. Gomidas Zohrabian and his family moved to Etchmiadzin in 1972 where he went on to study in the Seminary of Holy Etchmiadzin. He was ordained a Deacon in 1989. While studying in the seminary, he also worked in the museum of the Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin.

He came to the United States in 1995 and continued his studies at Concordia College in Bronxville, NY; General Theological Seminary in New York City; St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary in Crestwood, NY; and St. Nersess Armenian Seminary in New Rochelle, NY. He served as a pastoral intern at the St. Vartan Cathedral in New York City. He and his wife Ellen have three children; a daughter Angel and sons Gregory and Anthony.
