Dr. Taner Akcam Lecture at Florida Atlantic University
As part of Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education (CHHRE) Martin and Edith Stein Community Lecture Series, Dr. Taner Akçam will discuss his book, “The Young Turks’ Crime Against Humanity: The Armenian Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing in the Ottoman Empire,” on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in PA 100, FAU, Boca Raton, Florida.
Dr. Akçam is Robert Aram, Marianne Kaloosdian and Stephen and Marian Mugar Chair in Armenian Genocide Studies at Clark University. This program is part of south Florida’s commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Online registration is available here.
‘Iconic Images of the Armenian Genocide’ to be Presented at Naples Holocaust Museum
Saturday, April 11, 2015 – Genocide Prevention Teacher Workshop
As part of Genocide Awareness Month, local educators are invited to participate in a full day program of events at the Naples Holocaust Museum and Education Center dedicated to advancing Holocaust and human rights education in Southwest Florida. The full day program will feature a private museum tour, echoes and reflections, Holocaust training, and Armenian Genocide presentation and education training.
The Genocide Prevention Teacher Workshop will be take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Holocaust Museum and Education Center of Southwest Florida, 4760 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 7, Naples, FL 34103 from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Sunday, April 12, 2015 – Armenian Genocide Presentation and Discussion
Taniel Koushakjian will present a new exhibit entitled ‘Iconic Images of the Armenian Genocide‘ to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The presentation will take place at the Naples Holocaust Museum and Education Center of Southwest Florida, 4760 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 7, Naples, FL 34103 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
Mr. Koushakjian has served as the Communication Director of the Armenian Assembly of America in Washington, D.C. since 2013. He is also the founder and editor of Florida Armenians. Mr. Koushakjian has successfully advocated for several legislative initiatives, has published articles and delivered numerous presentations on Armenian American issues, most recently at Columbia University and in the U.S. House of Representatives. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University and currently attends the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management.Space is limited and RSVP is required.
