Florida Armenians Tallahassee Chair

Margaret AtayantsMargaret Atayants moved from South Dakota to Florida in 2010 to attend Tallahassee Community College. Her family emigrated from Baku, Azerbaijan after the fall of the USSR. Her family was one of several hundred Armenian families who fled the Azeri pogroms against Christian Armenians that began in 1988. She is a full time member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Tallahassee where she teaches Sunday school and sings in the choir. Margaret has been spending much of her time studying Armenian culture, history, and music.

In April, 2015, Margaret Atayants performed in the historic Armenian Genocide centennial commemoration concert at Florida State University.
